The dictionary defines whimsy as; anything odd or fanciful; a product of playful or capricious fancy.

A production pottery studio throughout history was busy with skilled artisans making wheel thrown and hand built objects for everyday and decorative use. During break times, potters would use the scraps of clay lying about to make interesting, creative one-off objects. They were playful, personal and small in size and covered all kinds of subject matter. By definition they were playful and meant to be enjoyed.

Red Clay Studio follows this tradition. I never know what type of whimsy I will create until the moment happens. Some ideas have staying power. I made a small pea pod one day. Then I made more, pushing the scale larger and larger. I like them so I will make more.
